A story of a beautiful birth.
This first time mama labored beautifully in an upstairs apartment with her cousin, her aunties, and her doula Clara from Ahavah Birth Works there to support her. When her own mother arrived, but wasn't able to come up to her room in the wheelchair she used, Mayowa went down and continued to labor on the sidewalk beside her van, so they could be near.
Many hours and some huge work later, Mayowa finally held her beautiful baby, and when she named her, Mayowa, after herself, I couldn't help but think what an incredible honor that tiny girl had to be named after such a resilient, determined, extraordinary woman.
